The following is a semi-automated trouble shooting guide provided by H.R. Simon and Company to the world. Our customers and their end-users are always welcome to call us at (410) 636-5555 if the answers cannot be found in this guide. If you suspect that the chemicals are at fault, or that the chemicals have been affected, as always, please send us at least a one quart (1 liter) sample of each of the processor's solutions and the replenishment solutions. Please notify us before sending samples.

Chemical Problems

Developer Turns Black
Fixer turns milky in color
Chemistry has strong ammonia smell
  Chemistry has frozen

If your concentrated chemistry has frozen during shipment, or after arriving at your dock, warm the chemistry up by placing it in a warm room, or by wrapping a hot-water-heater coil around the product. Becareful not to use heat high enough to melt the plastic or cardboard container. When the product is warmer than 40-50 degrees farenheit, it should appear normal. If it looks as though it is still frozen or as if chemical is floating, gently stir. If stirring still does not help, call (410) 636-5555 7A.M. to 5 P.M. EST monday through friday.
